Did you attend Madreseh Etehad in Iran?  If so, you are among more than one million Jewish and non-Jewish students who have studied in the 200 schools of the Alliance Isarelite Universelle (AIU) in over 20 countries since 1860. The Revolution ended the work of this wonderful organization in Iran, but it continues its other activities. In Paris. AIU has a large archive of materials and photos from their work in Iran from 1898 to 1978. In a future project, Sarechal.com will feature some of these materials. To learn more about AIU go to http://www.aiu.org/.

In 2010, the AIU will celebrate the 150th Anniversary of its founding and is planning a big celebration. It has begun collecting registrations from former students and faculty of its schools in preparation for the festivities.

In 1996 a 350-page book entitled "Honoring the Founders of Alliance Israelite Universelle" was published. It provides both in French and in Farsi, a history of both the Alliance and the Etehad School in Iran and its faculty and students and includes many historic photographs.
